There are so many fics you could write me about Mordecai and I would love them all. This is the character I can never have too much fic about.

Write me what they did to him on Eleven that squashed him so much that he stopped fighting at all by the time he went back (I am giving you a fairly free hand here concerning how graphic you want to get). Write me him and the Dright. Write me his brain when he had to betray the Castle. Write me hurt:comfort after The Lives of Christopher Chant (I'd probably lean towards Flavian/Mordecai, but I can see Mordecai/Rosalie too.

Play with the intriguing part where Christopher casually claims him as his man and then never mentions it again. There have got to be implications to that Christopher is unaware of. Maybe Christopher uses it casually at some point when he's in his asshole teenager phase and has to be told what he's done? Maybe Gabriel has to step in and explain to them both what this actually means?

Does the Dright let him go as easily as that? Does he try to snag him back? Does he use him against Christopher? Is he still resenting that point where he got defeated for once in his life?

If this was a major fandom and there were 5000 fics about Mordecai I would love them all. I'm here for just about anything but straight out fluff.

Thank you whoever decided to nominate ALL the DWJ in the world this year. I most heartily approve.

Tom Lynn has all the features of being utterly squashed that I love in Mordecai (and you've just heard how much I love Mordecai, so..) Apparently I have a thing for characters who are just hit to the point where they give up fighting. There's no point fighting because somewhere in your head you know you've already lost so you might as well lie down now.

The scene I remember most in the book is that moment where Polly realises how young he was when Laurel got him. I assume there was a point where he thought that life was good and then the slow drowning sensation of knowing he was over his head and it was too late then. Tell me about Laurel reeling him in, tell me how long it took for him to panic and how thoroughly resisting got beaten out of him (I am okay with underage here but like.. teenager underage, not younger). Tell me about him trying desperately to warn off Leslie without alerting Laurel to the fact he was doing it (or maybe Laurel knew anyway and was amused by it and let him try so he could fail?) Did he try to save Seb too? He did so try to save people at his own expense.

Tell me about him trying to grab onto Polly to save himself and realising it was wrong (or Laurel telling him that clearly he realised he was wrong) and the despair of having to cut himself off.

Um. I'm not opposed to happy endings here, I'd just like there to be a reasonable amount of not-happyness first.

I realise this is like the letter of wanting terrible things to happen to people who can't fight it but.. uh, yeah, that's kind of where we're going this year.

This book hints so GLORIOUSLY at awful things happening and then stops just short of any of them actually happening onscreen. There's always a rescue or a miracle of some kind thrown in to make the awful thing not happen.

Cullen: He's had that lovely sheltered spoilt boyhood, surely he realises that things aren't necessarily going to be that way forever? That there are worse things in marriage than just being bored all the time? Do his new wives feel obliged to lay down the law to squash some discipline into a boy who has clearly never had any? Does something happen that mean his family are obliged to trade him into a marriage he begs them not to for the sake of political expediency? How does Cullen get forced into growing up, and how does the innocence get taken out of him?

Summary
OK, so I have kids, and it turns out the *only* thing that stops them fighting constantly in the car is constant reruns of the Octonauts on audio book. And when you're listening to the episodes rather than watching them you suddenly realise what you actually have here is a baby version of SGA or Star Trek complete with monster of the week, even if the peril is somewhat milder than might otherwise be expected.

I am fond of all the characters, but while Captain Barnacles seems like the type of guy you would follow into hell (or possibly the Midnight Zone) my real soft spot is for Peso. There's just something about a medic who isn't a fighter and who doesn't view himself as particularly brave just going right ahead and doing the terrifying things anyway because he has to. And I have a real fondness for the little Peso/Shellington research team, and the fact they frequently get injured is just gravy, even if they get fixed five minutes later.

Team-fic centered on those two would be great, especially if the peril is slightly less mild than in canon. Hurt/Comfort would be awesome. I have zero knowledge of any marine animal that the show has not explicitly educated me on so do not worry about me fact-checking your Creature Report at the end (check! check! check!)

I wonder so much about Chivalry for someone we never actually see onscreen. Chivalry and Verity, accidentally enchanting Galen (what had happened before to make that even a possibility?) Chivalry and Burrich and Burrich's incredible loyalty - did that come about due to similar use of the Skill and if not how did the discussion about being King's Man come about? Who is this man and is he as good as Verity portrays him as or is that a younger brother and a bit of hero worship talking?

I'm not looking for evil!Chivalry here so much as I am flawed!Chivalry. I want to know about the guy who accidentally mind-whammied Galen, who everyone thought of as incredibly upright while he cheated on his wife. (Or did he? Is there any chance Fitz wasn't his and he's covering for him?) I tend to head-canon that he also mind-whammied Burrich, possibly by accident, at some point which is why to the end of his life Burrich is still looking after his descendants - you can go with that theory or ignore it. You could do him trying to repair his marriage or deciding to abdicate or brotherly moments with Verity (and awkward attempts to relate to young Regal and his mother? Oh hey, maybe gender switched Snow White! ;-) )

I'm not really looking for tender fatherly moments or indeed Fitz appearing at all in this, thanks!

Gorynel Desse! I vaguely ship him with Falundir and also with Granon Mikleine (it's not like he ever showed any signs of limiting himself romantically), so there's that, but there's also so much more. Realising that they'd lost and needed a box to store the Captal's Bequest in. Realising what Auvry was; did he always know he was a Malaressi? Did he think he was redeemable? Finding out what happened to Falundir - maybe knowing in advance what Falundir was planning and being unable to stop it. Getting Falundir out - how did he pull that off? The kid rescuing service for kids who had mild congenital deformaties - did he have any kids affected by it? Is that how it started? Rescuing Collan.

I'd prefer not to have him, y'know, dead and stuck in Cailet's head for this please!

Tacroy is my favourite character to never get his own book. Five minutes before the end of the book and we're suddenly on "oh, by the way, someone else owns my soul" and we're visiting someone who has him so squashed he won't even stand up and then it's over and WTF, COME BACK, I WANT THE REST OF THE STORY.

How did he get to find out that he belonged to Seven? What did they even do to him? Are there long term implications to Christopher claiming him as his man - does that mean something? Did he think working at the Castle and betraying them would be easy?

I know I have the Dright as a requested character, but if you want a fic just with Tacroy dealing with the after-effects of the Dright rather than him appearing directly that would be fine.

I love that, I love that Jeannie is clearly the one in charge here but that Rob is also clearly deeply in love with her. Anything showing that would be awesome.

Millie and Christopher during the events of Charmed Life; what conversations were they having behind the scenes? I can't see there not being arguments. Did Millie blame him for them running away? Did she point out the irony of him pushing Cat into hiding a girl from another world? How did she feel about the non-interference policy; did she want to step in after the snake-skirt incident?

Anything at all about Christopher's silver allergy being used against him.

All his instincts are cranky chip-on-my-shoulder working class ones and then suddenly he is one of the upper class and sometimes his brain fires the wrong reaction. How does he react the first time a kid reacts to Young Sam with a chip on their shoulder for the kid with a silver spoon in his mouth? Sybil standing up for Sam when he's not there (even when she might not agree with him). Sam and Willikins getting each other's measure and starting to become something friend-ish. Sybil vaguely feeling around what Willikins thinks of Sam before they start courting.

Young Granny and Nanny and all of their arguments and making up and arguing again as best friends do. Learning to be the Granny and Nanny we see today - perhaps trying out each other's approaches, realising it doesn't work for them because they are themselves. Nanny getting married or having kids. Granny not getting married to Ridcully and not liking kids. Granny tolerating Nanny's cats. Early witching; first babies and first deaths.

Jeannie and Rob are my Discworld OTP. The scene in I Shall Wear Midnight where Rob loses his temper gives me chills - the moreso when you realise that this is a people generally a-okay with dying. Any kind of after-scene from that scene I would eat up with a spoon. I love that Rob is completely bossed by Jeannie but clearly, when it comes down to it, adores her. Something about how they learned to love each other, even with the 500 mistakes they make along the way?

You should probably know that I ship Sarra with Collan hard, but I could also see her with Granon Isidor after Collan died. It's intriguing that she never looks back on childhood and thinks Glenin at all redeemable - is that due to a Ward too? Having Collan rub her nose in the ugly parts of society that even she looks at and then looks away because everyone has things they can't bear to start dismantling.

History tells us that not all Malaressi are bad to the bone; has Cailet also found examples of Mage Guardians with less than exemplary behaviour that she's hidden because they can't afford for society to look at Mage Guardians like that? What does she have buried in the memories she's inherited - the Captal's Bequest, Alin, Gorynel, all of it, that might wake her in a cold sweat at 3AM?

Did Auvry lie to Glenin about his backstory? Was he always a Malaressi spy, sent over to corrupt Mai but accidentally falling deeply in love along the way? What might have happened if he convinced her to come with him? What happened if he took Sarra instead and left her her First Daughter? Tell me about making Cailet with the last of their love that one last day.

I like Eugenide's rages at the gods most of anything. Realising that events in the past (death of his mother) were engineered to get him to that point (when you are a god, is it murder?). Dealing with Attolia's feelings about his gods. Hitting a point in the future where what is best for Eugenides and his family is not the same as what the gods determine as best for their people. Happy for any gods in this, not just Eugenides, or other characters dealing with the gods if you matched on the god rather than Gen. (Attolia challenging them? The Minister of War's feelings about the fact his wife died? Sophos working through them being real?)

The witch and her mother; not all monsters are unfamiliar. And considering how she treated Rapunzel she was clearly trying to be a better mother.

Any sympathetic witch's eye view of her trying to raise Rapunzel right. Why did she take Rapunzel in the first place? It clearly wasn't just for vengeance. Does she try to teach her gardening in the tower?

The giant didn't just have a wife, he had children. And by the time they seek out Red and Jack those two are old enough to feel guilty about the events they precipitated, but they have to deal awith them anyway.

Oh Tacroy <3 As long as this story is Tacroy centred you can include whoever you want in it, I would just rather it not be shippy.
I'm fascinated by Eleven, anything more about that (repercussions? or just talking about it?) would be awesome. Adventures with young Christopher and Tacroy world-hopping (and Tacroy being evasive) would be awesome. Anything you want to do with the fact that Christopher has claimed Tacroy as his man would be great. Small!Christopher prepared to shield Tacroy from Gabriel, the police and the world would be equally great.

Cat and Gwendolen
How on earth did Gwendolen using Cat start? She must have been pretty young when she started, and a kiddy that size doesn't start off evil, so I assume the getting from there to "I am actually prepared to kill my brother so he stays dead" must have been edging along a line. There are moments in Charmed Life where she does seem genuinely fond of him. Early childhood scenes, including their parents trying to deal with it? (And what on earth was said in those letters?) AU where Gwendolen didn't get to escape, and they had to actually work out their relationship? Gwendolen growing up, learning responsibility and regretting what she did?

Christopher/Millie
I don't see theirs as the most calm of relationships so I can only assume that they have a "Not in front of the children" agreement in later books. I'd love "behind the scenes" discussions. What was the original discussion of "oh hey, let's adopt my cousins' kids"? If Millie was upset at Julia for them running away, what on earth did she say to Christopher? Did she ever point out the irony that they were driving Cat into hiding a girl from another world and oh hey, this is a familiar situation? And the end of Charmed Life is something I can only imagine fading into hurt/comfort once the witnesses went away, despite everyone taking it very calmly. (The problem with being a grown up, let alone Chrestomanci, is that you can't visibly go "OH GOD, THEY JUST PUT SILVER HANDCUFFS ON ME AND I WAS HELPLESS" until the witnesses go away).
Also, I can see Christopher being the type of guy to step in front of Millie and try to have her arguments for her, even when she'd rather he didn't, so him getting pulled up on that (or just not telling him things so he didn't over-react) would be awesome.
(have them argue as much as you want but I'd prefer them to make up by the end)

Christopher Chant and Cat Chant
I love Christopher dearly, but my god did he fail at parenting during Charmed Life. Oh hi, I'm just going to let your sister try and murder you multiple times and also get really pissed off with you and hit you for NOT STOPPING HER. (Clearly your life as a teenager was blame-free. Oh, wait, you aided a gang of criminals and then later you ran away to another Series because you were annoyed with your guardian.) On the other hand you got a glimpse of just how non!faily he could be at the point where Cat caught fire which is an amazing scene I might have reread a few dozen times. Along with the handcuffs scene.
Anyway, my (meandering) point is, this is not going to magically (ha!) get better with a sorry. I can't imagine that Cat won't be wary of Christopher for some time, and Christopher is really going to need to work on that. Also the poor kid has a lot of trauma to work through and Christopher calmly and competently stopping him getting himself killed is also awesome.

And then there are the really hard times, like when Nita's mum is dying. Basically I figure a lot of their time is spent facepalming, and the rest is spent going "oh dear god, let me just have said the right thing" and possibly drinking. You could go with humorous despair over the kids' latest escapades or comfort over some of the really tough situations.
I prefer the earlier books; basically base everything before the event where they lost their powers and forgot everything please?

Summary

This whole kidnapping babies thing doesn't seem like it's Jareth's first go-around. If there's a script, and a "things you have to say" ("That doesn't even start with 'I wish'!") then that would make it seem like there have been other babies in the past. What did he kidnap them for, what is their purpose? Are they pets? Do they grow up cossetted, spoilt and fed to death on sweeties? Does he need them to define the reality of his realm? And if Toby grows up and Sarah tells him what happened, does there ever come a day when he starts resenting her for stealing that opportunity from him? Does he ever try to convince her to send him back? Or, what happens if, rather than her winning him back, there's an AU where they end up trapped in that realm forever? Or what if she lost, but managed to get back to search for him as an adult, but he didn't want to go?
Alternatively, Jareth and Sarah! Let's look at a quote:

Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that the child be taken. I took him. You cowered before me, I was frightening. I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for *you*! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations. Isn't that generous?

Um. Yes. Interesting relationship there! Her brain has locked in that the Goblin King is frightening, and so he is obligingly terrifying. There are a lot of really dark places I can see that relationship going, and I am happy to read all of them (although possibly have enough years pass so that she's aged up a bit, even if she never gets enough space to breathe and lose that naivety?) He's already demonstrated that he's prepared to use her friends to hurt her, and he doesn't yet think that he's being cruel. What happens when he is cruel, please?

Give me arguments and making up, the awkwardness of nightmares when your wife caused them, the to and fro of two people used to getting their own way having to work out how to negotiate without anyone getting executed or poisoned. Or give me pregnant Attolia having to work around how much of a pain in the ass pregnancy is, particularly if you're a control freak, and having to hand over more to Gen out of necessity - which neither of them particularly enjoy when it comes down to it.
Or Eddis and Eugenides! You could go with fic with them back in the past, with Gen getting tormented by his cousins and trying to convince her to help against them, the big meanies, while blatantly being as bad as they are if not worse. Or with Gen actually needing help after his mother died and his father wanted him to be someone else but refusing to accept it, because it's Gen. Or with Gen explaining that no, really, gods are real, no look I know I lie a lot but not this time. Or Eddis explaining to a not-exactly-willing Gen about the volcano and what he needs to do.

I love this description and I love the episode of young Simon and River flashbacks. I love the idea of young Simon, maybe competing with her at first, and then just realizing this was not something where he was even in the same league and just trying to nurture that gift instead.
I would like this to be pre-show and pre-kidnapping. I'm up for kidfic, jealousy that resolves itself, over-protectiveness. If you want to go unhealthy with this relationship I can totally see it going into co dependence too. We already know Simon was gifted - could he have been even more so if he hadn't, at an early age, dedicated himself to protecting River? Did his parents tell him "you're the oldest, this is expected of you"? Did River ever wish he would think of himself more?

I'm fascinated by Eleven, anything more about that (repercussions? or just talking about it?) would be awesome. Adventures with young Christopher and Tacroy world-hopping (and Tacroy being evasive) would be awesome. Anything you want to do with the fact that Christopher has claimed Tacroy as his man would be great. Small!Christopher prepared to shield Tacroy from Gabriel, the police and the world would be equally great.

Cat and Gwendolen
How on earth did Gwendolen using Cat start? She must have been pretty young when she started, and a kiddy that size doesn't start off evil, so I assume the getting from there to "I am actually prepared to kill my brother so he stays dead" must have been edging along a line. There are moments in Charmed Life where she does seem genuinely fond of him. Early childhood scenes, including their parents trying to deal with it? (And what on earth was said in those letters?) AU where Gwendolen didn't get to escape, and they had to actually work out their relationship? Gwendolen growing up, learning responsibility and regretting what she did?
(again no happy ending required because duh)
Christopher/Millie
I don't see theirs as the most calm of relationships so I can only assume that they have a "Not in front of the children" agreement in later books. I'd love "behind the scenes" discussions. What was the original discussion of "oh hey, let's adopt my cousins' kids"? If Millie was upset at Julia for them running away, what on earth did she say to Christopher? Did she ever point out the irony that they were driving Cat into hiding a girl from another world and oh hey, this is a familiar situation? And the end of Charmed Life is something I can only imagine fading into hurt/comfort once the witnesses went away, despite everyone taking it very calmly. (The problem with being a grown up, let alone Chrestomanci, is that you can't visibly go "OH GOD, THEY JUST PUT SILVER HANDCUFFS ON ME AND I WAS HELPLESS" until the witnesses go away).
Also, I can see Christopher being the type of guy to step in front of Millie and try to have her arguments for her, even when she'd rather he didn't, so him getting pulled up on that (or just not telling him things so he didn't over-react) would be awesome.
(have them argue as much as you want but I'd prefer them to make up by the end)

Christopher Chant and Cat Chant
I love Christopher dearly, but my god did he fail at parenting during Charmed Life. Oh hi, I'm just going to let your sister try and murder you multiple times and also get really pissed off with you and hit you for NOT STOPPING HER. (Clearly your life as a teenager was blame-free. Oh, wait, you aided a gang of criminals and then later you ran away to another Series because you were annoyed with your guardian.) On the other hand you got a glimpse of just how non!faily he could be at the point where Cat caught fire which is an amazing scene I might have reread a few dozen times. Along with the handcuffs scene.
Anyway, my (meandering) point is, this is not going to magically (ha!) get better with a sorry. I can't imagine that Cat won't be wary of Christopher for some time, and Christopher is really going to need to work on that. Also the poor kid has a lot of trauma to work through and Christopher calmly and competently stopping him getting himself killed is also awesome.

The Tripods - John Christopher

Summary

This is about as dark as a series of childrens' books is allowed to get and I would really like you to go darker.

Book 2 has really far too many loving descriptions of Will's Master lovingly caressing him for anyone to ignore. If you want to go either dubcon (as Will pretty much has to pretend to enjoy it to keep up the show) or noncon here (Fritz's Master I suspect would definitely make any experimentation painful and humiliating on purpose), I will be very happy.

If you don't want to go with that, I'd just like to stick with as dark as possible, please :-) The things that Fritz doesn't talk about in order to spare Will. The way he feels sending Will off and staying. Things that Will saw off-scene, people that he talked to, the sensation of creeping horror.. Or if you want to focys on the Masters, maybe looking at what happened to their previous slaves. As explicit as you want is fine, and this is one where I'm really not looking for a happy ending. The only thing I'd prefer to avoid here is PWP, otherwise you have a free hand.

I know I have four characters listed, but as long as it involves at least one human (not even necessarily our on-screen two!) and one Master I'm happy.

Fandom: Sophie's Snail - Dick King Smith

I'd like to go with these two growing up and maintaining their rivalry. Sophie is, obviously, a lady farmer. What is Dawn? Maybe she's a civil servant working for DEFRA, or in some other position where they will butt heads? Maybe they just get invited to the same family parties? Maybe their mothers do that politely competing while having tea thing. Obviously, their relationship has to be more civilised now, but that doesn't mean nicer!

The one thing I'd like to avoid here is making Dawn evil. She's different to Sophie, but I'd prefer her to be a character in her own right.

Totally open to them somehow coming to a way of understanding by the end, and cameos by other characters are welcome.

A Brother's Price - Wen Spencer

So, a lot of horrible things happen to Jerin in the books, and yet he always gets rescued just before they get really really bad. I'd really like you to go past that point somewhere and be even meaner to him - sell him to a family he didn't want to go to (his sisters are sorry about it, but they already committed to pay a giant debt with his price), or he ends up in a crib, or sold to a family where the crown seizes their assets including him.

How would he cope if he'd ended up going to the Brindles after all? Or if Halley had been just a bit slower and he'd gone to Kij? (That one could really be interesting because even before she kidnapped him there were definite creepy overtones about what she'd like to do to him). Or if you don't like AUs, maybe he starts meeting the guys in higher society who really didn't get served well by the system - the ones who they talked about where the risk was suicide and his brides trying to claim their money back.

Absolutely fine with angst, dubcon and noncon here. Also fine with an eventual happy ending (or happyish? Maybe the princesses can't take him as husband but he ends up official mistress or something?)

So I apparently started the new year by beating myself up with a TINY CARDBOARD TAG in the night. Seriously, there's blood all over the bed. WTF, world?

Went to toilet in night, got back in, scratched hip on something, went "ow". Couldn't find anything, still halfasleep, thought it must have been oddly sharp feather, went back to sleep.

In morning, my trousers slip down my hip, Hugh goes "OW" and touches SEVERAL INCHES LONG SCRATCH over my hip. Investigate, there is a tiny stiff cardboard tag (the sort you get on clothes) in bed and blood all over sheet (seriously all over sheet. I apparently rolled about. There are spatter patterns).

If I stretch my hand out the cut goes from the tip of my thumb to the tip of my middle finger. I repeat, TINY CARDBOARD TAG. How?
